Australian Market Report of December 21, 2010: Metals X (ASX:MLX) Commence Copper and Silver Production at the Renison Tin Project in Tasmania
Sydney, Dec 21, 2010 AEST (ABN Newswire) - Metals X Limited (ASX:MLX) has commissioned the copper circuit at the Renison Tin Project in Tasmania and is now producing a copper concentrate as a co-product. Metallurgical performance to date is showing higher than expected concentrate grades and recoveries compared with those achieved in the initial test work. Production is expected to be at a rate of 1000-2000 tonnes of copper metal per annum and can also potentially add silver production of up to 100,000 oz per annum.
Regis Resources Limited (ASX:RRL) announced a maiden JORC reserve for the Garden Well Gold Deposit estimated at 27.5Mt at 1.52 g/t Au for 1.34 million ounces of gold. Over 95% of the maiden reserve at Garden Well is within 180 metres of surface. Mineralisation remains open at depth and along strike to the south. Regis' total reserves now stand at 2.1 million ounces of gold.
MediVac Limited (ASX:MDV) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding through its Sri Lankan distributor - CME Medical Pty Ltd - with the Sri Lanka Ministry of Health to establish "Clinical Waste Management Systems in the Needy Hospitals in Sri Lanka", which could lead to the sale of up to 30 Metamizers. The MetaMizer is an environmentally friendly alternative waste management system for hospitals and quarantine facilities, providing sterile, safe waste disposal on site and reducing waste to landfill by up to 90%.
Integra Mining Limited (ASX:IGR) said today that recent drilling has intercepted a new style of mineralisation at the Majestic prospect in Western Australia. Results included 20 metres at 0.59% copper and 0.66g/t gold. The Majestic prospect is part of the Monger Joint Venture between Integra (85%) and Newcrest Operations Limited (15%). The Majestic area is shaping up as a gold and copper-gold mineralised system of significant scale and remains at the early stages of exploration evaluation.
