Bandanna Signs Cultural Heritage Management Plans with Karingbal
Brisbane, April 10, 2012 AEST (ABN Newswire) - Bandanna Energy Limited (ASX:BND) is pleased to announce that it has signed two Cultural Heritage Management Plans, one in relation to the Springsure Creek Coal Project and the other in relation to the Arcturus Project in the Bowen Basin, with the indigenous Karingbal people.
The Karingbal people have traditional lands covering portions of both the Springsure Creek and the Arcturus exploration permits for coal (EPCs). The plans will provide a framework for Bandanna Energy and the Karingbal people to work together to identify and manage cultural heritage while facilitating the development of the projects.
Bandanna Energy Managing Director Michael Gray said the Company now had in place key agreements with all traditional owners for its two flagship projects at Arcturus and Springsure Creek, following the signing of agreements with the Kairi people over their respective lands in February this year.
"This is further evidence of the Company's commitment to the development of these projects and we look forward to working with the Karingbal people to further develop the projects in a manner which respects the cultural integrity of the area," Mr Gray said.
The Springsure Creek Project has an allocation of 4 Mtpa in Stage 1 of the Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal development, and above and below rail contracts which will see it able to rail to port and ship first coal from approximately mid 2014.
