Petratherm Completes Paralana Fracture Stimulation for Geothermal Energy
Sydney, July 19, 2011 AEST (ABN Newswire) - Petratherm Ltd (ASX:PTR) and joint venture partners Beach Energy (ASX:BPT) and TRUenergy have successfully completed the Paralana Fracture Stimulation being a part of the Paralana geothermal energy project. Temperatures of 167 degrees centigrade at 3,670 metres were encountered. The next stage of the project will be injecting high pressure water into the subsurface rocks, from which geothermal water can be extracted for electricity generation.
Clark Oil and Gas has completed seismic surveying in ATP840 in the Surat Basin Queensland. The new data has highlighted a number of conventional oil and gas traps plus the potential for large volumes of basin centred gas in the block. If successful this would be a significant new play in the basin, with very large potential. Work is continuing on the new data prior determining potential drilling locations.
