Sydney, Nov 27, 2013 AEST (ABN Newswire) - Sovereign Gold Company (googlechartASX:SOC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Simon Bird as Corporate Advisor to Sovereign Gold.

Mr Bird will assist the executive team as the company transitions from exploration to development of the company's IRGS projects at Mount Adrah and Uralla NSW.

Mr Bird was also until recently the CEO of King Island Scheelite Ltd which is developing the tungsten mines on King Island in Tasmania. He is currently an Independent Non Executive Director of Mount Gibson Iron and also the Chairman of Rawson Resources Limited and a former director of CPA Australia Limited and Kosciusko Alpine Club Limited.

Mr Bird has over 27 years of international finance experience, including holding the positions of General Manager for Stockland Ltd, CFO of Graincorp and CFO of Wizard Mortgage Corp.
