Fire River Gold is a near term producer and is slated to commence production at its Nixon Fork Gold Mine in summer 2011. The Nixon Fork Gold Mine is located in Alaska's famous Tintina Gold Belt. Alaska has a long history of mining and is considered to be very politically friendly to the industry and hosts Kinross' Fort Knox, Barrick Gold's Donlin Creek, and Sumitomo's Pogo Mine. On February 17, 2011, Fire River Gold announced the results of its preliminary economic assessment (PEA) for the resumption of underground mining at the Nixon Fork Gold Mine, conducted by Snowden Mining Industry Consultants Inc.
