Sydney, June 4, 2010 AEST (ABN Newswire) - iSOFT Group Limited (ASX:ISF) - Australia's largest listed health information technology ompany, today announced that Lorenzo Release 1.9 is now installed at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust.
Morecambe Bay becomes the first acute NHS trust in England to receive iSOFT's integrated patient management and clinical solution. With its partner Computer Sciences Corporation, Inc (NYSE:CSC), iSOFT completed the implementation of this next-generation solution on 3 June 2010 at all trust sites including Furness General, Westmorland General, and Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
The project involved the training of over 3,500 staff and the migration of approximately 80 million data transactions to the new system.
Lorenzo Release 1.9 also replaces an existing iSOFT patient administration system and follows an earlier implementation of Lorenzo Release 1.0 across all surgical wards at Morecambe Bay.
"This is a crucial milestone for iSOFT as it provides a valuable reference site," said Gary Cohen, iSOFT's Executive Chairman and CEO.
"But this is also a major advance for iSOFT's global strategy. With healthcare set for a huge transformation worldwide, modern healthcare IT solutions are fundamental in transforming the way healthcare is delivered," Cohen said. "Our latest version of Lorenzo positions iSOFT as a key player on the global stage since it meets the need for connected healthcare and interoperability of patient information, which is fundamental in modern healthcare economies."
"This has been a major project by any standards, but the NHS can now reap the benefits of the valuable experience gained at Morecambe Bay," said Adrian Stevens, Managing Director of iSOFT UK and Ireland business. "Lorenzo will bring real benefits to clinicians, staff and patients.
"The completion of this landmark project is testimony to the dedication of staff at Morecambe Bay, CSC and iSOFT and represents a major success for all of the teams involved."
Guy Hains, President CSC International, added: "Developing and implementing a programme as complex as this has required a clear vision and collaboration between multiple stakeholders. The Trust has always carried this vision, making a true alliance possible between all key parties - including the Trust, NHS Connecting for Health, CSC and its alliance partners."
