Sydney, Feb 25, 2010 AEST (ABN Newswire) - Pike River Coal Limited (NZE:PRC) (PINK:PKRRF) Wednesday announced an intention to make an equity issue of ordinary shares to raise approximately NZ$50 million. Pike River Coal reported a NZ$14.1 million loss for the six month period ended 31 December 2009. Included is a NZ$4.3 million unrealised exchange gain relating to currency movements on the USD denominated convertible bond, NZ$3.8 million depreciation and amortisation charge and NZ$2.6 million of interest expense. The results for this period reflect the fact that the mine was in development phase.
Beach Energy Limited (ASX:BPT) (PINK:BEPTF) has posted a robust first half underlying profit of A$25.5 million, down 50 per cent from the previous corresponding period earnings of A$50.7 million.
