Perth, Feb 17, 2009 AEST (ABN Newswire) - Northern Mining Limited (ASX:NMI) announce that diamond drilling has confirmed the presence of high grade gold at the Blair North prospect southern zone.
Highlights:
- Phase 1 diamond drilling confirms high grade gold intersections
- These include: 9.6m @ 6.35g/t Au 23.5m @ 2.78g/t Au 7.0m @ 4.49g/t Au
- Next drilling proposed for April 2009 to locate strike extensions to the lodes

In hole BND001 the intersections included 23.5m @ 2.78g/t Au (from 44m to 67.5m) with values up to 28.6 g/t Au.
Intersections in BND002 included 7.00m @ 4.49g/t Au (from 65.36m to 72.36m) and 9.63m @ 6.35g/t Au (from 90.17m to 99.8m) which included 0.56m @ 28.82 g/t Au (from 91.07m to 91.63m).
These results are considered very encouraging as they confirm the continuity of the upper and lower lodes and highlight the potential for high grade gold shoots locally and in the region (Table 1).
Early results indicate that the mineralised system is open in a northerly direction and requires further drilling to determine its full extent.
The intersection of 0.37m @ 3.99 g/t in hole BND002 is hosted in a pyritic felsic intrusive approximately 20m below the Lower Lode.
