Sydney, Sep 4, 2008 AEST (ABN Newswire) - Building investment links between Chinese companies and Australia will be the basis of a presentation by Tsinghua Tongfang Company (THTF)(SHA:600100) deputy general manager for Australia, Eddy Wu, during next month's Excellence in Mining and Exploration conference.
THTF, one of China's leading technology, electronics and software companies, has established a presence in Australia in the past 12 months with the aim of expanding its brand presence and establishing links between expanding Chinese companies and Australian providers, particularly those in the resources sector.
While there have been some successful links forged, Eddy Wu says more needs to be done to improve China's knowledge of Australia as a business partner.
"There are many Chinese products coming into Australia and Australian resources are flowing into China but the benefits for both countries can be improved through stronger business links.
"There are many Chinese companies wanting to invest in Australia but most of them don't know how to do this effectively. They don't understand the culture or the business practices and consider it is too complex to even attempt.
"Though our presence in Australia we hope to build these bridges and establish confidence in a beneficial two-way exchange," Eddy Wu says.
As well as being a technology provider, THTF also supplies 70% of the world's container inspector machines and is actively seeking Australian resource industry partners. It is now in a similar position to Korean electronics companies about 20 years ago and is ready to launch its brand on to the world stage.
The THTF presentation is certain to attract plenty of interest at Excellence in Mining & Exploration from September 14-16 at Hilton Sydney.
The conference profiles the exploration and mining industry from an investment context and will include presentations in the areas of capital raisings, listing issues and infrastructure as well as on and offshore investment activities while more than 60 companies in the resources industry will showcase their latest developments.
