Adelaide, Feb 15, 2007 AEST (ABN Newswire) - Toro Energy Limited (ASX: TOE) has appointed Dr Geoffrey Hudson, a former President of the Australian Geoscience Council and Executive Director of the Australian Mineral Foundation, to the role of Exploration Manager at the ASX-listed uranium explorer.
Dr Hudson will be responsible for exploration strategy, programs, exploration targeting and growth initiatives for Toro's expanding uranium assets. This will cover Toro's existing uranium exploration assets in South Australia, along with expansion of these both domestically and internationally.
He has been involved in extensive development of links in Australia between the mining industry and geology and science courses at university.
Dr Hudson's professional geological career has also included senior operational and geological appointments with Western Mining Corporation, and internationally in Asia, Europe and North America. His work has covered petroleum, uranium, gold and other minerals, including heading the exploration team on the Olympic Dam copper uranium project after its discovery in the mid 1970s, and subsequently on the Stuart Shelf Joint Venture in the surrounding area.
He is a former Visiting Fellow in Economic Geology to the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom.
Dr Hudson will oversee Toro Energy's eight permanent and consulting geoscientists, five of whom have uranium exploration experience.
