Mitsubishi Motors Corporation

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (TSE: 7211) was established in 1970 and is one of the few automobile companies in the world that produces a full line of automotive products ranging from 660-cc mini cars and passenger cars to commercial vehicles and heavy-duty trucks and buses. The company also operates consumer financing services and provides this to its customer base. Sales were 3.88 bilion yen in 2003. DaimlerChrysler is the largest shareholder with a 37% shareholding.

Asian stocks saw modest gains Wednesday on hope of a bailout package for Greece. Australian market was boosted yesterday as official data showed that Australia's economy grew 0.9 per cent in fourth quarter, its fastest quarter-to-quarter pace in almost two years. Japan's Nikkei index ended up 0.3 per cent. South Korea's Kospi Composite rose 0.5 per cent. Shanghai Composite climbed 0.8 per cent higher. But Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index closed 0.1 per cent lower. Resources shares declined across the region after news that International Monetary Fund plans to sell 191.3 metric tons of gold on open markets.
