CHINA MINING Congress & Expo 2011 will open in Tianjin on November 6-8, 2011. With the theme "Strengthen International Cooperation, Accelerate Geological Exploration & Mine Development", the Conference will widely publicize China's reform and opening policies related to the mining industry, and moreover offer discussions on topics including sustainable development of worldwide mining, global mineral product survey situation and analysis, mining and capital market, mine environment and mine parks, comprehensive utilization of mineral resources.
Wall Street delivered a bad lead to Asian market today. US stocks plunged overnight as financials tumbled after President Barack Obama proposed stricter limits on financial institutions' risk-taking. Obama's plan will prevent financial institutions that own banks from investing in, owning or sponsoring a hedge fund or private equity fund.
Asian markets ended higher on Wednesday. Tokyo stocks jumped 2.7% as yen's weakness boosted the Japanese exporters. South Korea and China markets delivered a modest rise of 0.3% each. Hong Kong's Hang Seng surged 1.6%.
Tokyo stocks opened sharply lower Friday with investor sentiment hurt by Sony Corp.'s forecast of an annual operating loss as well as by a fall in U.S. shares overnight due to disappointing corporate earnings there. Yesterday the Aisan markets gained on the good lead from Wall Street. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index firmed 0.6% to 12657.99. The Shanghai Composite Index added 1%. South Korea's Kospi Composite rose 1.1% to 1116.23.
