2nd Annual Smart Grid China Summit 2011 will be held on June 9-10 in Beijing, China. It will leverage on advanced technologies and equipments in tapping the burgeoning smart grid market. The 1st annual event in 2010 was a great success and attracted more than 150 delegates from the smart grid industry, 10% of which are from grid operators and power distributors, 27% from primary and secondary equipment suppliers, 24% from IT technology & service providers, 18% from R&D institutes and 14% from consultants and investors.
Wall Street broke the four-day run of gains overnight as a higher-than-expected US Producer Price Index in November raised concerns on inflation. Asian markets ended mixed Tuesday. China's Shanghai Composite and Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell after China's State Council said it plans to cool the rapidly rising residential property prices in some cities.
Renesas Technology Corp. and NEC Electronics Corp. (TYO:6723) could receive a total of 200 billion yen in financial assistance from their parent companies to proceed the proposed merger, said Japanese media.
Asian markets Friday opened mixed. Japan's Nikkei traded lower in the morning, but the Japanese financial stocks surged after the rise on Wall Street overnight. Hong Kong opened flat as investors were cautious ahead of the earnings reports.

Hong Kong's benchmark Hang Seng Index jumped 4.6% on the first trading day after the Lunar New Year holiday. In Tokyo, the Nikkei Stock Average of 225 companies gained 1.8% to 8251.24, bringing its three-day advance to 7.4%. Markets in China, Taiwan and Vietnam remain closed for the Lunar New Year holiday.
