AconexGov to Help Government Customers Meet Higher Cloud Security Compliance
FedRAMP Certification of Aconex Now in Process
San Francisco, Mar 8, 2017 AEST (ABN Newswire) - Aconex Limited (ASX:ACX) (ACNXF:OTCMKTS), provider of the #1 global platform connecting teams on construction and engineering projects, today announced that its certification for the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) is in process, under the sponsorship of the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE). As part of a new program called AconexGov, FedRAMP certification will position Aconex customers to win U.S. federal government projects with advanced security compliance requirements. [1]
Governments around the world face increasing threats to cyber security from a wide range of sources. In response, they have implemented higher compliance specifications for information and communications technology (ICT) services. In the U.S., FedRAMP provides a standardized approach to security assessment, authorization and continuous monitoring for cloud-based products and services. The Information Security Registered Assessors Program (IRAP) provides comparable security compliance standards in Australia.
FedRAMP and IRAP certification requirements apply to asset owners; general contractors; engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) firms; and project managers involved in the design and construction of government infrastructure projects. Aconex has launched AconexGov to help its customers in the U.S. and Australia meet federal security compliance standards and win new government business.
"AconexGov shifts the burden of compliance from our customers to us," said Craig Fulton, chief technology officer at Aconex. "Over the last several years, we have continued to strengthen our industry leadership in meeting our customers' most advanced enterprise security standards and protocols for construction risk management. Now we are leveraging this ongoing investment to save them the time and cost of meeting FedRAMP and IRAP compliance on their own. FedRAMP certification is a significant milestone in the roll-out of AconexGov."
How AconexGov Works
AconexGov will provide FedRAMP and IRAP compliance implementation and documentation services for Aconex customers engaged in government projects.
"Essentially, we are bridging the gaps between customers, government agencies and independent auditors to streamline FedRAMP and IRAP authorization," Mr. Fulton added. "In the U.S., we will continue to work with the DoE to complete our certification under General Services Administration (GSA) requirements."
AconexGov will act as a linchpin between the federal agency that owns the project; the GSA Program Management Office, which supports the administration of FedRAMP and provisions authorized systems; and a third-party compliance assessment organization (3PAO). Aconex is partnering with Amazon Web Services (AWS) for cloud hosting and automation of FedRAMP and IRAP data and processes. AWS is the global leader in Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and compliance programs for all major information security certifications.
