Signs Enterprise Agreement with Farrans Construction

Belfast, July 19, 2016 AEST (ABN Newswire) - Aconex Limited (googlechartASX:ACX), provider of a leading cloud and mobile collaboration platform for the global construction industry, today announced an enterprise agreement with Farrans Construction, a leading building and civil engineering contractor with projects across Great Britain and Ireland.

"Control of information is key on large and complicated projects, which is why Aconex has been an invaluable asset to our business for more than 12 years," said Neil McStravick, head of design and procurement at Farrans. "Aconex increases workflow efficiency, saving time and money, and the full audit trail of documents and communications helps us avoid or mitigate disputes. The platform also reduces our staffing requirements for document control and administrative support. Our project teams prefer using Aconex over any other system, so this agreement to standardize on the platform for all new projects was a logical way forward."

Under the three-year enterprise agreement, Farrans will have unlimited use of and support for the Aconex project-wide collaboration platform for tendering, pre-construction and construction management of their projects. The platform includes Aconex Connected BIM for collaboration between design and construction teams on building information modeling (BIM) projects, a dashboard of project health indicators, and mobile apps for on-site access to project data from tablets and smartphones.

History of Successful Project Delivery

Since 2004, Farrans has deployed the Aconex platform extensively for information and process management on more than 30 large-scale, high-profile construction projects.

Examples include:

Victoria Square - This mixed-use development is one of Europe's largest urban regeneration projects and a milestone in the revitalization of the Belfast City Centre. The GBP165-million project consists of 74,322 square meters of retail space, 116 residential apartments, restaurants, bars, public space, and parking facilities for 1,000 vehicles. Aconex was used to manage more than 600,000 emails, including document transmittals, and to control project information flow, saving hours of administrative time each week across the project team and reducing risk through traceability.

Harris Federation - Farrans has delivered multiple projects for the not-for-profit educational charity in London since 2014. Most recently, Farrans was awarded a pre-construction services agreement (PCSA) to complete the design phase of the new GBP20-million Harris Academy project in Tottenham.

Belfast Schools Strategic Partnership (BSSP) - This GBP352-million public-private partnership (P3) is responsible for designing, building and operating new schools, libraries, youth clubs, and community facilities in the Greater Belfast area. The partnership has won numerous awards, including the Belfast Boy's Model School project, which was named the Education Infrastructure and Best Project at the Construction Employers Federation (CEF) Construction Excellence awards.

New Wear Crossing - As one of the region's largest civil engineering projects, the new bridge over the River Wear in Sunderland is a three-span, cable-stayed structure with two lanes of traffic in both directions and dedicated cycle-ways and footpaths. The GBP117-million design-build project is scheduled for completion in 2018.

Altnagelvin Area Hospital - This was a GBP44-million project to expand the south wing of Altnagelvin Area Hospital. The project was awarded to Farrans as a Performance Related Partnering (PRP) contract, under which strong performance and delivery ensured further phases of work.

Bangor Aurora Aquatics and Leisure Complex - This state-of-the-art leisure center for families and athletes includes the first Olympic-standard swimming pool to be built in Northern Ireland. Innovative design helped the project achieve a Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) accreditation of Excellent.

Solidifying a Long-Time Partnership

"We appreciate the opportunity to take our long-time partnership with Farrans to the next level with this enterprise agreement," said Henry Jones, senior vice president of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and global accounts at Aconex. "Our joint success over many years is a testament to the value that Aconex brings to large-scale infrastructure and construction developments. We look forward to helping Farrans continue to deliver high-quality projects on time and on budget."
