Key Management Appointments
Brisbane, July 29, 2015 AEST (ABN Newswire) - Axiom Mining Limited (ASX:AVQ) is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Board member and two executives to strengthen commercial and technical capabilities as the Company continues to make the transition from explorer to producer:
- Mr Jeremy Gray: A mining investment professional with more than 20 years of experience in global resource capital markets as a mining equity analyst, mining portfolio manager and investment banker.
- Mr Juan Jeffery: A mining industry veteran with a proven track record of successfully leading and delivering profitable growth and cash flow in a number of sectors of a mining and downstream processing businesses, significantly improving revenue and market shares.
- Dr Phillip Tagini: Former Special Secretary to the Prime Minister in the previous Solomon Islands Government, primarily in charge of mining policy and legislative frameworks, and also a published expert in mining sustainability.
Mr Jeremy Gray, Non-Executive Board Member
Mr Gray's career in mining investment include appointments as the Global Head of Basic Materials at Standard Chartered Bank Plc, Head of Metals and Mining Research at Morgan Stanley in London and the Head of Mining Research at Credit Suisse in London.
Mr Gray is currently a Director and a Managing Partner of Chancery Asset Management, and holds an Honours degree in Finance from Melbourne University.
Mr Juan Jeffery, Executive General Manager - Mining Operations
Mr Jeffery is a mining professional with more than 30 years' experience including a significant operational background in Papua New Guinea at mines such as Porgera and Ok Tedi, as well as in senior management in BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto's Comalco.
As a Director at First Quantum Minerals Limited in Western Australia, Mr Jeffery commissioned the Ravensthorpe nickel mine open pit and delivered full run of mine product from the ground up with the beneficiation, HPAL and AL plants, and the off-take and bulk supply agreements at industry lowest cash cost of $4/lb nickel.
He is also a major projects and materials handling specialist and with substantial experience with clay ores and shipping.
Mr Jeffery holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) Geology (Geomechanics & Mineral Economics) from the Royal Agricultural University and a Bachelor of Science Dual degree, majoring in Geomechanics Engineering and Geology, from the University of Pretoria.
Dr Phillip Tagini, General Manager - Sustainable Development
Dr Phillip Tagini is a barrister and solicitor in Solomon Islands, and has handled briefs on a wide spectrum of issues including forestry, mining, fisheries, maritime, land, and commercial and corporation law. He holds a Masters in Law on foreign direct investment in Solomon Islands, and a Doctorate in Philosophy from Monash University on the Policy and Regulatory framework for mining in Solomon Islands.
Dr Tagini has published and presented on the topic of mining sustainability to both international and domestic audiences. His area of research and practice focuses on the fundamentals of people and land relationships and building corporate structures that reflect these relationships to build strong, empowered communities that are sustainable after mine closure. In the previous Government, Dr Tagini was the Special Secretary to Prime Minister Gordon Lilo.
