Perth, Dec 10, 2014 AEST (ABN Newswire) - Copper-zinc explorer Venturex Resources (googlechartASX:VXR) is positioning itself for a busy 2015 with exploration to focus on its advanced portfolio of projects in the mineral-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia.

"We are one of the few companies on the ASX that provides investors with exposure to copper and zinc. Therefore it is a good blend for those looking for exposure to those markets," Venturex Resources Managing Director Michael Mulroney told PPRTV.

"We think, through Venturex, investors get a good exposure to what we think will be rising copper and zinc prices in the coming years."

The recent exit from its gold exploration tenements in Brazil has enabled Venturex to refocus its effort solely on its Pilbara suite of projects.

"Obviously [withdrawing from Brazil] focuses us from a technical and financial capability point of view," he added.

With a total 29Mt resource base across its Pilbara projects, Mulroney said this was a solid platform to build off as well as strong copper and zinc exploration upside from across Venturex's ground.

According to Mulroney, Sulphur Springs and Whim Creek are the two regional projects that have been driving exploration in the second half of 2014, and expected to continue into first quarter 2015.

"At Sulphur Springs, we will be focused on Kangaroo Caves. We have a resource there that is still open in several directions and a development path that with the next door Sulphur Springs project, makes it very attractive to have another resource on our doorstep."

At the Whim Creek project, Venturex has been utilising new exploration technologies which have discovered a number of different targets around the Bella Bella and Salt Creek areas. Drilling access permits have been applied for and Mulroney anticipates these to be granted in early 2015, with drilling to begin shortly after.

Discussions for the development of the Pilbara Copper-Zinc-Silver project are still being progressed, with a number of parties expressing interest. "Logistics-wise we are very well placed in the Pilbara to get our product to overseas markets," Mulroney said. "We are going to utilise the new container borne technologies to get our product from the mine site itself at Sulphur Springs to the port at Port Hedland."

Mulroney said that despite the current challenging climate for mining investment, he hopes to be able to provide a more detailed update to shareholders on the process at the start of next year, and where the development opportunities exist.
