Sydney, May 6, 2014 AEST (ABN Newswire) - Richard Johnson, Crater Gold Ltd's (ASX:CGN) PNG General Manager presenting at Investorium.tv from Sydney Sky Tower on April 28 2014, is a mining engineer with more than 40 years' experience constructing and managing small and large scale projects in many countries. Between 2002 and 2005, he was responsible for turning around DRD Gold's high grade underground Tolukuma Gold Mine in PNG's Central Province into a highly profitable operation.
Mr Johnson has been a senior executive and Director of a number of listed companies that operate in the PNG and Pacific region, notably the commissioning and commencement of production at Simberi for Allied Gold and DRD Gold, including sitting on the PJV Management Committee from 2004 to 2006. He has been running CGN's Crater operations in PNG for the last year and has been responsible for planning and overseeing the current HGZ exploration and planning to take it to production.
Crater Gold has a medium term multi-million ounce deposit with a large scale, bulk tonnage gold deposit having a grade above 1.0 g/t Gold.
The resource is open along strike and the mineralisation model is an intrusion related, low sulphidation, epithermal gold mineralisation overprinted by carbonate with base metal sulphide gold mineralisation.
This style of mineralisation is responsible for some of the most prolific gold producers in the Pacific Rim, including Porgera, WafiLink Zone and Hidden Valley.
