Makes Further Progress with Technical Due Diligence on the Paser Project, East Kalimantan

Perth, June 18, 2012 AEST (ABN Newswire) - Padang Resources Limited (googlechartASX:PXR) is pleased to announce that it has verified a number of permits necessary to commence mining coal from the Paser Project, East Kalimantan.

The Company's in-country manager has made significant progress in validating permits and environmental approvals required should coal mining commence at the Paser Project. Permits and environmental approvals validated include:

- Environmental Impact Control Agency (UKL/UPL Permit)

It has been confirmed that the IUP holder has been awarded a UKL/UPL permit from the Environmental Impact Control Agency validating the completion of a satisfactory environmental impact assessment for coal mining to commence from the permit area.

- Forestry Services Department of Mining and Energy (Other Utilities Area)

The permit area has been confirmed by the Forestry Services Department of Mining and Energy to be within a "Other Utilities Area" and not in a "Production Forest" or "Protected Forest" zone. Coal mining from the permit area is therefore approved from the permit area.

- Use of Haul Roads

The IUP holder has confirmed a valid agreement with the owners of the network of roads within the permit and directly from the permit area to the jetty.

- Use of Jetty

The IUP holder has confirmed possession of a permit awarded by the Bupati Pasir to use the Jetty on the Apar River approximately 14 km from the permit for the purpose of loading coal onto barges.

Next steps

Padang will keep shareholders informed of any material developments regarding the Due Diligence process on the Paser Project.
