Kimberley Metals Limited (ASX:KBL) Commence Exploration At The Iron Duke Copper-Gold Deposit, NSW
Sydney, April 7, 2011 AEST (ABN Newswire) - Kimberley Metals Limited (ASX:KBL) has recently commenced exploration at the historic Iron Duke Mine, located 50 kilometres by road from the Company's Mineral Hill Mine in central NSW.
Previous exploration at this site by Triako Resources Limited in 2005/2006 intersected copper-gold mineralisation in shallow drilling over a strike length of 300 metres. Mineralisation was intersected in all 15 holes drilled by Triako that reached the target. Significant intersections include:
- 7m @ 2.3 g/t Au, 2.3% Cu from 38m in hole TID001 incl 2m @ 7.9 g/t Au, 3.3% Cu from 42m
- 11m @ 3.8 g/t Au, 2.5% Cu from 46m in hole TID003 incl 4m @ 8.3 g/t Au, 3.5% Cu from 52m
- 11m @ 1.6 g/t Au, 2.3% Cu from 36m in hole TID005
- 7m @ 1.8 g/t Au, 2.5% Cu from 37m in hole TID011
- 8m @ 1.2 g/t Au, 2.1% Cu from 39m in hole TID013 and 6m @ 3.4 g/t Au, 2.7% Cu from 52m
The mineralisation at Iron Duke has the potential to provide high grade copper/gold feed for the Mineral Hill processing plant, which is on schedule for start up mid year.
The Company has recently completed a soil geochemical sampling program over an area of approximately 14 square kilometres that has defined copper and arsenic anomalous zones to the southwest of the Iron Duke deposit.
Kimberley plans to commence drilling at Iron Duke with the aim of assessing the open cut potential for ore feed for the Mineral Hill plant and to explore the extent of the mineralisation open down dip and along strike.
The Iron Duke copper-gold mineralised zone as known from past activity is up to 50 metres wide and extends for a strike length of 550 metres. It is located in the Girilambone Group meta-sedimentary rocks of the Lachlan Fold belt in central NSW that also host the Tottenham, Tritton, Budgery and Girilambone copper/gold deposits to the north.
Kimberley holds EL6064 (100%) that covers the Iron Duke deposit and the Christmas Gift group of workings approximately 3 kilometres to the southwest. There is no record of previous exploration over the Christmas Gift group of workings.
