Benitec Limited (ASX:BLT) US Patent Re-exam Update

Melbourne, Mar 9, 2010 AEST (ABN Newswire) - Benitec Limited (ASX:BLT) (PINK:BNIKF) provides the following update on the USA Patent Re-examination of the "Graham" patent 6,573,099.

The Company was notified on 7 January 2010 that an Examiner's Answer to the Notice of Appeal filed on 22 May 2009 and the accompanying Appeal Brief filed on 27 July 2009 had been issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The Company received a copy of the Examiner's Answer on Monday 11 January 2010.

We can now confirm that today in the USA, Benitec and CSIRO have filed a reply to the Examiner's Answer and a Request for Oral hearing before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interference.
