Anglo Australian Resources NL (ASX:AAR) Commences Aircore Drilling Program To Test Rogan Josh Gold Deposit At The Feysville Project
Perth, Sep 8, 2009 AEST (ABN Newswire) - Anglo Australian Resources NL (ASX:AAR)(PINK:AAURF) is pleased to announce the commencement of an aircore drilling program of approximately 3000m at the Feysville Project. Drilling will test the southern extension of the Rogan Josh deposit over 2km.
The Feysville Project consists of all mineral rights attached to two mining leases located 16km SSE of Kalgoorlie. The Project is situated in the geological / structural corridor, bounded by the Boulder Lefroy Fault, that hosts the world class plus million ounce deposits of Mt Charlotte, Fimiston, New Celebration, Victory-Defiance, Junction, Argo and Revenge / Belleisle of St Ives, as well as other deposits such as the 60,000oz Au Hannans South deposit (located 3km north of the Project).
The Rogan Josh deposit has strong geological affinities to the Hannans South deposit which is largely a supergene gold deposit occurring within the Hannans South Shear Zone.
The Rogan Josh prospect is an attractive target with significant supergene and bedrock gold mineralisation already located. Previous drilling in by Western Mining returned intersections such as:
------------------8m @ 3.3g/t Au2m @ 8.8g/t Au and 2m @ 4.28g/t Au ------------------
from a subhorizontal zone of supergene mineralisation. The zone, as defined by the 1g/t Au limit, is more than 700m long and 2-8m thick. The mineralisation occurs about 30m below the surface. In June 2009 Anglo Australian Resources NL completed 13 reverse circulation drill holes (total 1180m) primarily to test the supergene-mineralised zone.
Encouraging intersections, include:
------------------2m @ 5.43g/t Au2m @ 14.34g/t Au1m @ 12.09g/t Au4m @ 5.42g/t Au and 6m @ 8.24g/t Au------------------
This confirmed the supergene-mineralised zone and also discovered high-grade bedrock gold mineralisation within carbonate-sericite altered quartz feldspar porphyry on the three southernmost sections tested. The sheared porphyry is interpreted to occur within the Hannans South Shear Zone. The combination of gold mineralisation, associated hydrothermal alteration, porphyry intrusives and shearing suggests that the southerly extension of the Hannans Shear Zone represents a compelling target for testing.
The extension, which is untested over 2 km, south of Rogan Josh will be tested by the 3000m air core drilling program which commenced this week. It is anticipated that mineralisation intersected in this program and the June 2009 program will be quickly followed up with additional RC drilling.
