Kesko Oyj (HEL:KESAV) KONEKESKO LTD PRESS RELEASE 01.10.2008 AT 09.30 1(2)

The whole business of Termalin Oy, located in Mikkeli, which has Suvi and Palta boats manufactured, is transferred to Konekesko's ownership on 1 October 2008. The deal expands Konekesko's offering to the customer segment previously not completely covered by the boat models represented by Konekesko. Suvi is one of the leading small boat brands in Finland and, accordingly, a natural complement to the top boating brands offered by Konekesko.

"Konekesko sees the long-term future of the Finnish boat industry as bright and wants to develop its product selection in order to serve increasingly better the needs of the wide range of customers. During the past season, in particular, the domestic market has developed positively and sales expectations for the coming season are very good in spite of the recent negative news," says Antero Sundberg, Sales Director of Konekesko's Recreational Machinery.

Termalin Oy has had Suvi and Palta boats manufactured since 1985 and has sold more than 40,000 boats during these twenty-plus years. In 2008, the company's net sales total €4.3 million and its three subcontractors manufacture approximately 2,600 boats. With the deal, the company's valid purchase agreements are transferred to Konekesko.

Termalin will continue its business operations as a unit of its own in the existing premises in Mikkeli as part of Konekesko. Termalin Oy has five employees, who all transfer under their previous conditions to Konekesko. Terho Liukkonen, the owner and Managing Director of Termalin Oy, also transfers to the employment of Konekesko.

"After my long career as an entrepreneur, I wanted to find a strong and financially established owner for my life's work. In addition, sharing a common view on business development further increased my confidence in Konekesko. By combining our resources we can create an even better Suvi family for the market," says Terho Liukkonen.

The deal will have no effect on the distribution network of Suvi boats, which have been sold by about 90 dealer outlets in Finland. Valid dealer agreements are transferred to Konekesko. The network of export countries will likewise remain unchanged. The main export countries of Suvi boats are Sweden and Norway.
