Northland Resources Inc. (OSL:NAUR) September 23, 2008: Mr. Bill Wagener, the COO of Northland Resources, reports that the Government of Finland has released an important directive in which it proposes a range of financing alternatives in support of mine development. Northland anticipates that its projects in Sweden and Finland will benefit from these directives, particularly in the area of infrastructure development.
Mining projects of a sufficient size and mine life, that are expected to have a significant impact on the local and national economy and employment levels, will be considered for financial support according to the Government.
Northland plans to use the existing Finnish rail line from Kolari to the port of Kemi, to transport up to 3 Mtpa of iron ore concentrate, when its Tapuli development project, located in northern Sweden, begins production. In the longer term, Northland plans to participate in the expansion of the Finnish mining sector through development of its Hannukainen and Kuervitikko iron-copper-gold projects, both located near Kolari, in northern Finland.
Mr. Buck Morrow, President of Northland, commented, "We are encouraged by, and grateful for, the tremendous level of support the Finnish government has shown to the mining industry - both historically, and now with their renewed commitment going forward."
Northland is a well-structured, debt free mining company with a portfolio of high quality iron, gold, and base metal development projects in Sweden and Finland.
