Kemira acquires a water treatment chemicals company in Shandong Province of China to further strengthen its presence in China according to Kemira's strategy. The acquisition will be carried out through a new fully owned subsidiary of Kemira taking over the assets of an existing privately owned company called Zibo Huaqing Water Purifying Products Company Ltd.

The main client base of the acquired company is in the industrial water treatment and Kemira's plan is to expand the business to the municipal sector. The main product is PAC in both liquid and solid format. The current annual capacity of these products is 20.000 tons of solid and 30.000 tons of liquid, which capacities are to be enlarged after the acquisition. In addition to this main product the company is also producing iron based coagulants. The company employs about 50 people.

Kemira has been present on the Chinese water treatment market since 1999. Besides China, Kemira has water treatment chemicals sales in many countries in Asia.
