PÖYRY AWARDED ENGINEERING CONTRACT FOR NUCLEAR POWER PLANT IN CHINA
Pöyry has been awarded an engineering contract for the detail piping and support design inside the safeguard buildings for the new nuclear power plant at the Taishan site in China by SOFINEL S.A., a company of the EDF Group and AREVA NP. The value of the assignment is EUR 2.8 million.
The assignment includes the transfer of a 3D CAD reference model to the Taishan specific conditions and structures, the detail piping and support design in a 3D PDMS model including stress analysis as well as load impacts on the civil structures and the layout and positioning of anchor plates. The scope covers all major piping systems in two out of four safeguard buildings for the nuclear steam supply systems and part of the main steam and feedwater valve compartment. The project started in July 2008 and will continue over 25 months. The Pöyry contract comprises unit 1 of the two-unit plant at the Taishan site. Options are given to perform corresponding work for unit 2.
This assignment is the successful continuation of prior project awards like Olkiluto 3 in Finland and Flamanville 3 in France where Pöyry is supporting AREVA and SOFINEL to build new nuclear power plants.
