Heijmans NV 's-Hertogenbosch - Heijmans Infrastructure has been commissioned by Alstom Power Nederland to carry out a part of the civil engineering work on Flevocentrale's new power plant in Lelystad. The work includes, among other things, the concrete works, roads, minor steel work and the installation of underground piping. Alstom is constructing the power plant under contract to Electrabel Nederland. The contract with Heijmans is valued at about €30 million.
Alstom is a world leader in the area of equipment, such as turbines for energy generation. Alstom also takes care of long-term maintenance of power plants. Alstom took on the contract for the new Flevocentrale power plant as a turnkey project. Heijmans Infrastructure acts as the contractor for the foundation and concrete works and is currently already working on the foundation piles for the future power plant. Work on the civil engineering portion will start in August of this year. 2,200 metric tons of steel reinforcement and 25,000 cubic metres of concrete will be used for the building and its foundation.
