Auckland, Dec 22, 2005 AEST (ABN Newswire) - The Air New Zealand Group (the Group) (ASX: AIZ)(NZSE: AIR) carried 907,151 passengers in November 2005, an increase of 1.1 percent on the previous period.

The delay in delivery of Air New Zealand's Boeing 777 aircraft, caused by the industrial action at Boeing, combined with the ongoing refit of the Boeing 747 fleet required significant rescheduling of long-haul services in November. Cancellations and down gauging of aircraft resulted in reductions in scheduled capacity to Japan and North America.

Group capacity, as measured by Available Seat Kilometres (ASKs), decreased 4.4 percent to 2.5 billion ASKs for the month of November.

Group traffic, as measured by Revenue Passenger Kilometres (RPKs), decreased 2.8 percent to 1.9 billion RPKs for November.

Group passenger load factor of 75.2 percent was 1.2 percentage points higher than November 2004. Year to date Group load factor of 75.5 percent was 0.1 of a percentage point higher.

Passenger load factor movements for key regional markets November were:
- Domestic passenger load factor was 0.4 of a percentage  point higher at 75.0 percent.- For the Tasman and Pacific Islands a 5.2 percentage point decline  in passenger load factor to 66.8 percent. *Due to larger cap. B777- Total short-haul passenger load factor of 69.3 percentage points  was 3.5 percentage points lower.- Asia/Japan passenger load factor increased 8.6 percentage points  to 81.4 percent.- North America and Europe passenger load factor of 79.1 percent was  3.1 percentage points higher.- Total long-haul passenger load factor of 79.9 percent was 5.1  percentage points higher.
Group yield refers to total passenger revenue divided by the total of all kilometres flown (RPKs). Adjusted for year on year currency movements, yields for the five months to November 2005 were as follows:
- Group yield increased 6.4 percent- Short-haul yields increased 7.5 percent- Long-haul yields increased 2.9 percent
Air New Zealand also took delivery of its fourth Q300 aircraft on the 18th of December.
