The Swedish National Debt Office will on September 30 issue SEK 10 billion in Treasury bills maturing December 17, 2008, as previously announced. The auction volume is somewhat lower than the SEK 15 billion sold in the latest extra auction.
The Swedish National Debt Office submits an annual proposal for central government debt management. This year we are proposing that the Government makes a decision on the maturity for the respective type of debt and that the time horizon for reaching the target shares is prolonged.
As part of the measures announced last week, the Swedish National Debt Office will hold additional auctions in T-bills. The first auction was held on Friday, September 19, and the second will be held tomorrow, September 23. The volumes of these auctions are SEK 25 billion each. After consultation with the Riksbank, the Swedish National Debt Office has decided to take a number of certain measures in order to counteract the shortage in the T-bill market that has occurred as consequence of the market turbulence.

The net of central government payments in August was SEK 0.0 billion. The Debt Office's forecast was a deficit of SEK 14.1 billion.
