Kyushu Electric Power Company

Kyushu Electric Power Company, Incorporated was established in 1951 and supplies electric power to 6.6 million households and 1.2 million commercial and industrial customers on Kyushu, the southernmost of Japan's four main islands. Supplier of electric power to residential, commercial and industrial users. The Company is the sole producer of electricity for the main island of Kyushu and the surrounding islands. Operations are carried out through the following divisions: electricity supply (nuclear power stations, thermal power stations, pumped storage hydroelectric power stations, alternative power resources); other. Electricity supply business accounted for 97% of fiscal 2001 revenues and other, 3%.

On Friday Asian markets closed mixed in a volatile trading session. Japan's Nikkei 225 Average climbed 1.5%, while South Korea's Kospi rose 0.8%. China's Shanghai Composite was down 1.8% and Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 0.7%. Tokyo stocks slid more than 3 percent on Monday after the news that U.S. government will take a large stake in Citigroup. South Korean stocks also made a weak start today, weighed down by the deepening financial jitters and the weakening local currency.
